Profile: Characteristics#

The Characteristics tab allows you to set basic information about your character such as; Name, Title, Height, Race, etc. To set these values, click the red icon in the upper right. TRP3 Profile: Characteristics

Profile: About#

The About tab is the place for you to write more detailed information about your character. You can write as much or as little as you’d like here. There’s a lot you can do here, check out our advanced guide for more. I generally try to keep these short so it’s easier for people to read.

Profile: Miscellaneous#

The Miscellaneous tab is where you set your Glances, Status and RP preferences. At first glance are things someone would notice immediately about your character, this gives players something they can use to begin interacting with your character.

Currently is for expressing what your character is doing at the moment, though people tend to get pretty loose with this. Other information (OOC) is for out of character (OOC) information you want other players to know.

Roleplay style is for defining your RP preferences, what sorts of things you will allow or not when RPing with others.

Backup Your Profile#

It’s possible for your TRP profile data to become corrupt or get lost due to reinstalling the game or moving computers. It’s a good idea to back this up periodically to avoid having to redo everything.

The Total RP Wiki has a more in-depth guide on how to backup and sync your profile data if you’re interested.

If you prefer to quickly make a copy here’s how;

  1. Locate your game folder. By default on Mac it’s at /Applications/World of Warcraft/ and on Windows it’s at C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft.
  2. Locate your TRP profile data. It’s located in World of Warcraft/_retail_/WTF/Account/<ACCOUNT_NAME>/SavedVariables, in all files beginning with totalRP3*.
  3. Copy these files to another location periodocally.

Tips#

I usually slowly build my character profiles over time, don’t feel compelled to fill everything out at once! Get out there and look at other profiles to get ideas for how you’d like to build yours.
